British Air Force Typhoon FGR4s have operated alongside France's air force in a joint strike on an subterranean weapons facility in Syria used by the IS group, as stated by the UK's MoD.
The facility, identified by intelligence, was thought to be containing munitions and bombs, the statement said, and was located in mountainous terrain just north of the historic site of Palmyra in central Syria.
"Our aircraft used laser-guided Paveway IV weapons to strike a number of approach shafts providing entry to the site... initial indications indicate the target was engaged successfully," officials stated.
There was no evidence of any harm to civilians in the attack late on Saturday and every plane involved returned to base without incident, the ministry further stated.
The Typhoon FGR4s were backed up by a Voyager tanker plane.
Daesh - alternatively referred to as Daesh - enforced extremist governance over significant areas in Iraq and Syria until 2019.
"This strike underscores our UK leadership, and commitment to stand shoulder to shoulder with our allies, to eradicate any resurgence of the terrorist group and their harmful and extremist ideologies in the region," UK Defence Secretary the Defence Secretary stated.
UK warplanes have conducted overwatch operations over Syria to "prevent any attempted resurgence" of the group following its military defeat at the climactic battle in Baghuz in 2019, the MoD reported.
"I must thank every member of the UK armed forces who took part in this operation for their professionalism and their bravery," the Defence Secretary commented. "They were part of numerous British troops deployed over Christmas and New Year. This operation, to remove militants who threaten our security, demonstrates how our armed forces are always on standby, all year round, ensuring Britain's security within its borders and strong abroad."
During December, the American forces executed what it described as a "large-scale strike" on Islamic State objectives in Syria, following an assault resulted in the deaths of two US servicemembers and a civilian interpreter in Palmyra.
The UN reports Islamic State still maintains between 5,000 and 7,000 combatants in both countries.
